Introvert or Extrovert: Why blogging is a great way to make money!

If you are an introvert you will understand the sheer joy of being able to work from home. I do it every day and am so grateful that I have this choice.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not a complete hermit, but I like to go out and visit with friends when I want to, not because I have to do it to earn a living.

Being an introvert can be misunderstood so easily. No, I’m not shy, No, I’m not anti-social. I actually just enjoy my own company, oh and that of my dogs and Husband… (not in that order!)

Having a Blog or any other type of online business can make life just so much more relaxed (and that’s whether you are an introvert or not). You get to choose who you interact with and when. I have a wonderful team, but they are all online and in fact, they are all over the world. We don’t need an office in town with set hours and we all work the hours that suit us.

I think one of the most important things in my world is Freedom. I know we are all motivated by different things, for some its security, for others its routine. Whatever your motivator is, working online (blogging) could be the solution.

My average Day

My day begins with a cup of Coffee in bed, then because we have a farm, its animal feeding and property work for an hour or two. Then we have breakfast together in a very relaxed way.

I am normally at my desk by 10 am. I have a set routine that I follow for 4 or so hours and then its play time again. Whether that’s a walk in the forest with the dogs, a cup of tea in town with a girlfriend, (yes I do socialize), or a drive to the city to visit with my daughter. I get to choose.

Now I know for a lot of people this is not their dream life. But it works for me. I’ve never dreamt of running my own seminars or speaking from the stage. I know that is a lot of people’s dream and I wish them well with it. I think it’s so important to learn what works for you and find a way to support that plan.

Have an online business gives me Financial and Time Freedom to live the life that I love.

But I’m not an Introvert, what’s this got to do with me?

Now if you’re not an Introvert you can still really enjoy the lifestyle of a blogger. Some of my closest friends are incredibly outgoing and complete Extroverts. They recharge their batteries by hanging out with friends. They blog and have online businesses that are super successful. Some of them like to rent space in those community offices where you can rent by the day or week. It gives them the interaction they love, but they still have the freedom to come and go as it suits them. I love the expression, “a laptop life”. You can work wherever you want and whenever you want. So I guess you are getting my point by now. Having an online business can work for everyone.

Where do I start, it’s so “Noisy” out there

I know, who do you trust when it comes to learning about making money online. There is so much information out there, so where do you start?

The first thing you are going to want to establish, is what sort of online business do you want?

A business coach we worked with at one point in our business life asked a question of me one session. He said, “Lucy, you need to decide what you will or won’t do for money”. This had a surprisingly powerful impact on my way of thinking. First, we looked at the ethical side of things. I won’t work with products that exploit animals or children. I am vegetarian so I wouldn’t have a recipe blog recommending meat dishes. (In fact, I had an incredibly successful Vegan blog, now Sold, but more on that later).

By using this question as a measuring stick I was able to decide what sort of online business I wanted to create. Another important decision for us was never to handle stock again. We had a warehouse with millions of dollars of stock in it for over 30 years! I don’t ever want to handle inventory again….

So for me, it came down to affiliate marketing and running online courses through my blogs. Both work amazingly well for us. If you don’t know our story, you can read a little about us here. So what are you going to choose?

As Well as Blogging, Here are some other ways to start making money online:

  1. # Blogging about your passion. We all have something we are passionate about so think about what you really love and know a lot about. To make money on your blog you can become an Affiliate or create your own course. I was very passionate about Raw, Vegan Food, so I created a blog about it and it was incredibly successful. I ran an online course, I had someone drop-ship products related to the course and I was an affiliate for a few products. I will only ever recommend something as an affiliate that I use and love. It comes back to my rules about what I will and won’t do for money. Always be authentic and honest and your audience will trust you and want to try what you recommend. One of the best courses I have ever taken to learn how to do this was Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing, You can read our review here. This woman is the real deal. Anything you need to know about Affiliate Marketing you can learn from her.
  1. # Building and selling websites. This is called flipping and can be very lucrative. I have sold websites from $250 to $70,000. It sounds complicated, but once you master the basics you can really have fun with this income model. The platform I use is www.flippa.com?buy_sell=tib, but you can also check out Empireflippers. I’ve never used them but I hear they are good. I won’t go into too much detail here, but we’ve covered the process of building a website worth selling in this article “starting a profitable blog“.
  1. #Article writing. Are you good at writing articles, is it one of your secret passions to be a published author? If so, you could make a great income by writing articles for other people’s blogs. It’s actually one of the ways my Daughter earns cash while she is at University. A great place to register your services is at Upwork.com, it’s an easy place to find jobs you can do in the comfort of your own home.

  1. What if you are just incredibly creative, you can have an online store with Etsy or eBay. I’ve never done this because I’m as creative as a brick, but I know people that make a wonderful living from their handmade creations.Introvert or Extrovert, make money blogging. – The Introverted Blogger (4)
