In this blog post, we are going to discuss how Increasing your income by delegating tasks will INCREASE your income. Say what now? I am going to do LESS and make MORE?

In a word…. Yes.

Businesses vary in size. You may be muddling through everything yourself, have a team or are preparing to take the leap of building your Rockstar team. Business size doesn’t matter when everything breaks down into pieces. The number of pieces is just different.

However, time remains constant and you want to spend most of your business time in your Circle of Brilliance and not completing “busy” tasks and micromanaging. You need to delegate and outsource to increase your income.

Your first step is to identify what tasks can be outsourced, but you are going to have a clear picture of what your day-to-day is. You need to track your work activities and document your processes. When you write them down it is easier to delegate them. How detailed these lists are is up to you. Do whatever makes your brain happy. Not too detailed, not too vague…make it just right ;)

Determine exactly what your Circle of Brilliance is. What are the tasks that only YOU can perform? Typically they are the HIGH-income tasks.

Now that you have your “processes to paper” acknowledge which tasks are no-income, low-income and high-income. At the end of the day, everything needs to be completed, but by whom? Where does your business generate income?

As mentioned above, high-come tasks are generally your Circle of Brilliance. What you bring to the table has created your business.

A low-income task can be social media development. It is needed for you to be discovered, but it may not generate immediate income and you certainly do not have time to fiddle with that.

No income can be “busy” work. It needs to be done, but you may not see the direct dollar sign attached to it.

Let’s rip off the band-aid and start delegating.

What tasks stress you? What tasks dim your glow or snuff out your light?

For me, it was my bookkeeping….. Stupid math LOL After I had outsourced my bookkeeping I could feel my shoulders lighten. I was not wasting time with the “numbers monkey” on my back. I know that it is being done correctly and therefore saving me money.

My next step was outsourcing the writing of my blogs to Julia. This was a few years ago. Julia has become an integral team member who is by my side working on all income-generating tasks, but “it” all started with the small step of outsourcing my blog writing. She shines brightly! Having Julia on my team has allowed us to take on MORE clients and therefore increase our revenues.

My latest hire was Lisa who keeps us on track and our communications flowing in the company. This is where she glows. In fact, she does the majority of our writing and is as pleased as punch! Julia sparkles in other facets of the business. How do I know this? Our team has open communications.

Not to brag, but I have a ROCKSTAR TEAM. It started small and has been building beautifully.

Our team is composed of trust, open communication and goal-oriented individuals. It may sound “cheesy”, but we are happy. When your team is happy with their work and their teammates, it will produce MORE. Which is more income. True story.

NOBODY is happy when everything is micromanaged. When you micromanage you get into a “petty mode” and just plain bitter. Your team starts to feel like you have as much confidence in them as a pack of feral kittens. NOBODY is happy.

When your team feels trusted and knows that their input is vital to your operations they will take on more responsibilities. Think of a bicycle tire with the hub in the middle with the spokes radiating from the core.

You do NOT want to be the HUB BUB! You do not want to be micromanaging and altering everybody’s work. That is a waste of your time, money and sanity. Your team doesn’t want to feel inadequate or feel like they are wasting their energy on items that “they know” you are going to change… You might as well slash your tire and save EVERYBODY’s time.

You want to be in the SPOKE SQUAD! When everybody is a spoke, your business is supported at all times. Your team’s talent is recognized and appreciated. Together you can strengthen weaker areas of your business. Perhaps you need to apply more focus on converting leads to clients. Together you will have a common goal and hit higher levels of success.

Being in the SPOKE SQUAD also allows you more time for life.

You are going to do LESS and make MORE with your Rockstar team.
