Romans 5:8 meaning

What does Romans 5:8 mean?

Due to the fall of Adam and Eve, we are all born with a sinful nature. That is a fact but did you know that God already loved you?

You were created to have fellowship with God. Everybody is created with a "God-shaped hole" in their heart, that only God can fill. Nothing can fill it except God. That is why we need to build and cherish a relationship with God. It is the only way to find true peace and joy. God loved us first when we were still unlovable. He loved us first before we even understood that we had to make a choice to love Him.

Romans 5:8 Devotional:

Before we were lovable, God loved us. God knew that it was impossible for us to atone for the sinful nature that we were born with.

But He created us to have fellowship with Him. So God provided a way to bridge that gap. It doesn't matter how many good things we do, or how many hours we pray, we can never bridge that gap on our own. It is a matter of holiness. God is Holy. We can only come into His presence when we wear a robe of righteousness. You cannot buy this robe yourself but you can accept it as a gift. Jesus is your robe of righteousness.

How can we do anything but love Him back?

Jesus poured out His life for the forgiveness of our sins so we could be reconciled with God. Each of us, through faith, can have the opportunity to enter into a relationship with Jesus and experience peace with Him. He fills us with His hope, and joy in every situation that we encounter.

Having a relationship with Jesus doesn’t mean life is always easy. Rather, it provides us with the ability to face anything that comes our way. We can have hope in all our difficult situations.

God will pour out His grace upon you but you need to stay plugged into Him so that you can encounter His grace. That is why we are having these 30 days of short powerful devotions on God's grace. Read them each day and spend a few minutes in your prayer journal or notebook, prayerfully reading our daily bible verses about walking in God's grace and considering the prayer and gratitude prompts.
