The Bible gives an easy, three-word answer for how you receive the grace of God: by trusting Christ. The Bible says in John 1:17, “For the law was given through Moses, but God's unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ” (NLT). God's grace is entirely wrapped up in a person: Jesus.

The first step to activating the grace of God is revelational knowledge of God's word. Then after receiving knowledge of what God has put in you, in your heart; the very next thing is to step out on the knowledge in faith. The word of God says all things are possible to him that believes (Mark 9:23).

So one could say, we receive grace or grace happens every time that through the work of the Holy Spirit we see the world as particularly patterned on our behalf. For example, our prayers are answered beyond our expectations or we are overwhelmed with a sense of gratitude for an unexpected kindness or loveliness.

We believe we are saved by faith through grace. God's grace is usually defined as undeserved favor. Grace cannot be earned; it is something that is freely given. We count on God's grace and the bridge he built in our relationship with him. Bible verses about grace abound.

To take something lightly means to underestimate its value or to treat it with contempt or to take it for granted. We do that to God's grace and mercy whenever we continue to sin against Him despite how kind and patient He has been to not immediately punish us like our sin deserves.

God desires ardently to be our Friend; however, He respects our freedom to accept Him. The life of grace all starts in the moment that we receive the Sacrament of Baptism. The graces that flow from Baptism are extraordinary, almost mind-boggling—how good God really is.

The Bible describes at least 5 different categories or expressions of grace: saving grace, sanctifying grace, strengthening grace, sharing grace and serving grace. Let's dig into each of them. Saving grace is the grace God gives to sinners to influence their hearts and turn them to Christ.

Grace is an unmerited gift from God—no one can boast or claim to have earned it. We are, however, to have good works—to walk in His ways. We also receive that grace through faith in God and Jesus Christ. To put it another way, the justification of our sins, which comes through grace, requires faith.

Give yourself over to God through prayer and ask Him to help you receive grace. He is ready to help you and hears clearly when you pray, worship, and study His word. Besides ensuring that we are saved by grace through faith, prayer is vital for a fulfilling life. To make any progress in life, we need to pray.

God wants us to grow strong in giving grace to others. Giving grace to another person is simply to forgive them, unconditionally, just as God forgave us through Christ. "Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you" (Colossians 3:13, NIV).

The means by which God grants grace are many. They include the entirety of revealed truth, the sacraments and the hierarchical ministry. Among the principal means of grace are the sacraments (especially the Eucharist), prayers and good works.

How does grace instruct us, and what does it teach? The biblical answer to that question is a definitive refutation of antinomian doctrine: “The grace of God . . . train[s] us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives” (Titus 2:12).

The Lord's grace is sufficient to lift you from death and sin and to endow you with eternal life. It is sufficient to change you, transform you, and perfect you.
