How to Invest in Yourself as a Teacherpreneur · Kayse Morris (2024)

As teachers, most of us have the innate quality of helping others but struggle when you should invest in yourself. We want to help our students succeed, help each other, and help our world. I love this about our community; we are truly better together! But sometimes, as a helper, you may forget to invest in yourself. You spend hours investing in your students and your coworkers and your family, and you end up getting the leftovers. Take the first step in investing in yourself today by reading this blog post and putting these strategies into action. Investing in yourself is crucial to fighting burnout and keeping your forward momentum.

Why it’s Important to Invest in Yourself

If you’ve ever been on an airplane, you probably remember the safety instructions that the flight attendants share while the pilot is taxiing to the runway. One direction that always sticks out to me is when they are talking about the oxygen masks. “Secure your mask before helping others.” As a helper, my first response is to make sure those around me are safe. But it’s important to remember that if we aren’t taken care of, it’s tough to help others. This is why it’s essential to invest in yourself.

When you invest in yourself, you can fill your cup, so you have more to pour out to those you serve. Investing in yourself looks different to everyone, but the most crucial part is that you do it, and do it often! I love this investing in yourself quote because I couldn’t agree more! When you invest in yourself, you grow. And when you grow, your circle of influence widens. It is just one of the benefits of investing in yourself.

You are worth the investment. Your business is worth the investment. Just as you invest in quality products for your lifestyle, you should invest in quality products for you and your business.

Making Time to Take Care of Yourself

Setting up your schedule with time carved out to invest in yourself is so important! If your physical, mental, emotional well-being is the last on the priority list, you won’t be able to help others because you haven’t filled yourself up! Put it in your daily routine to invest in yourself. Doing this has changed my life, and I know it will change yours too.

I spend time each day working out, as it is an investment physically and mentally. I also love to read or listen to books! You can find all of my favorite business books here! Reading is an excellent investment in yourself and your business. I also make time to set my intention for the day. Putting yourself first isn’t selfish; it’ll set your mind and body in the right space to help and serve those around you.

Ways to Invest in Yourself as a Teacherpreneur

One way to invest in yourself and your business is by purchasing things that will improve the quality of your work. If you are selling your teaching resources online, you’ll want to invest in clipart and fonts that will make your resources stand out among the rest. There is a lot to choose from on Teachers Pay Teachers, but you can also search on Etsy and Creative Market to find some unique design elements for your resources and marketing images.

You can also invest in yourself and your business by hiring a designer for your website and marketing. Your brand will be cohesive and beautiful, and you won’t have to worry about all of the ins and outs of website design. I love Becca Paro Design Co.! They are so talented and creative, and I recommend their services one-hundred percent.

My favorite way to invest in yourself as a teacherpreneur is to invest in a business coach. I wish I would have known to do this at the beginning of my teacherpreneur journey because it has been the biggest game-changer for me. Sure, it was scary! Investing in courses and a business coach is a big commitment. But, you have to take a leap of faith outside of your comfort zone to see change! And, I’ll be honest, it has been the BEST decision I have made for my business.

I would love to be YOUR business coach and guide you through the ins and outs and ups and downs of being a teacher boss. I’ve been on this journey for almost a decade and have learned so much along the way. I want to share my knowledge with you and give you the accountability you need to start your business or take it to the next level. I created a FREE workbook just for you.
