How do I know the exact model of my iPad? ›

Open Settings, tap General, then tap About. Look for the model number in the top section. If the number you see has a slash "/", that's the part number (for example, MY3K2LL/A). Tap the part number to reveal the model number, which has a letter followed by four numbers and no slash (for example, A2342).

To identify the exact model of your Square Stand, you will need to locate your Square Stand serial number. There are two ways to find this: With your iPad docked in the Square Stand, open the Square app, tap ≡ More > Settings > Hardware > Square Stand > Get Help > Device details.

The Square contactless and chip reader works with most Android devices, as long as you're running Google Android 4.0 or higher, have location services enabled, and have access to Google Play. The new reader is compatible with these models: HTC One X.

To get going, the Square magstripe and chip card readers are compatible with most Apple iOS and Android devices running the latest software versions. On the flip side, we don't currently support the following: BlackBerry devices. Windows devices.

Identifying by Serial Number

You'll need to know your iPad serial number. Once the serial number is known, it's simply a matter of entering that number into a search which results in showing the status of your iPad's service coverage, and a by-product is that the information also tells you your model automatically.

You have an iPad Air 1st generation. This iPad was discontinued in 2016. This iPad cannot be updated beyond iOS version 12.5. 5 due to hardware limitations.
