How to Find Total Sales Revenue on Excel (2024)

Any successful business owner must keep a watchful eye on sales revenue. If you don't know how much money your operation brings in, you won't know your profit margin. Microsoft Excel tracks sales revenue and calculates the total, freeing you up to concentrate on other aspects of your business.

  1. 1.

Type the inventory name or ID in cell A1. As an example, if you sold bicycles, write "Bicycles" in cell A1.

  2. 2.

Enter the sale price of the item in cell B1. If a bicycle sold for $200, write "$200" in cell B1. Adding the dollar sign automatically formats the cell as currency.

  3. 3.

Type the volume of sales in cell C1. If you sold 20 bicycles, enter "20" in cell C1.

  4. 4.

Enter "=B1*C1" in cell D1 to calculate the total revenue for that item.

  5. 5.

Repeat the process for each item sold, using a different row. If you also sold bike racks, enter "Bike racks," "$50," "5," and "=B2*C2" in cells A2 through D2, respectively.

  6. 6.

Enter "=SUM(D1:D#)" in the next empty cell in column D. Replace "#" with the row number of the last entry in column D. In the example, enter "=SUM(D1:D2)" to calculate the total sales revenue for the two items.
