For the most common PayPal fee of 3.49% + $0.49, the fee for a $100 transaction will be $3.98, making the total money received after fees $96.02.
When you use PayPal to invoice and collect payment from your clients, you will incur fees based on the payment type, currency, and payment method. It can be difficult to calculate these fees accurately before sending an invoice.
Once you've calculated the total fees for a particular transaction, add the PayPal fees to the original invoice amount to cover the deduction. Remember that PayPal will always charge a fee on top of your transaction total, which means the fee will now be charged on top of the new transaction amount, which will differ slightly from your original calculation.
You can use this formula to calculate what you should charge in order to receive a goal amount:
(Total Received + Fixed Fee) ÷ (1 – (Percentage Fee/100))
