When the Eagles offer quarterback Jalen Hurts that contract extension in the offseason for around $40 million per year, he might need the signing bonus to pay off all those Super Bowl LVII tickets he charged to his credit cards.
OK, we’re joking, but the truth is, bringing family and friends to the Super Bowl at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, ain’t cheap — and flights and hotel rooms could be the least expensive items. Super Bowl tickets can cost a player or coach tens of thousands of dollars — which leads to the question: How much do you really love those second cousins?
Each Eagles and Chiefs player and coach is given two free tickets to the game, and 13 more are made available for purchase at face value, which, of course, will depend on just how good they want those seats to be: Upper-deck seats are less expensive than lower bowl seats on the 50-yard line, of course.
The league doesn’t release the face value anymore, but the lowest-priced seat for the last Super Bowl that we have pricing for was $950 for Super Bowl LII — when the Eagles won their first championship five years ago.
If a player wants more than 15 seats, he will be forced to buy tickets from other players or shop on the secondary market, where the price is determined by the demand. Ironically, Eagles fans — who are among the NFL’s best traveling fan bases — could drive up the prices for their favorite players.
No Super Bowl tickets are sold to the general public. Every ticket is accounted for by the NFL, which distributes them to teams and then keeps a percentage for itself to award to sponsors, VIPs, celebrities and others.

State Farm Stadium seats 73,000 fans at capacity, but some seats will be used for an auxiliary press box and other needs, so the total could be roughly 70,000. At the customary 17.5% for teams in the game, the Eagles would receive roughly 12,000 tickets. Figure in tickets for the coaching staff, front office, employees, sponsors and advertisers — and the number dwindles quickly.
And don’t forget about the other 30 teams: Last year, the host team received 5% of the tickets available and each of teams not playing in the game received 1.2%.
The league also makes ticket packages available through On Location. Fans also can purchase tickets to the Super Bowl via VividSeats, StubHub, Ticketsmarter or Ticketmaster. According to VividSeats, prices for this game range from $4,438 to a whopping $35,841.
