You can customize many aspects of the Quicken investment transaction lists to suit your own way of working.
Any changes made in the Investment Transaction List Preferences window will apply to all of your investment accounts. These settings change only the way your data is displayed (not the actual data).
Change the name that appears at the top of the transaction list
Open the investment transaction list preferenceswindow.
In the right pane, use the List display dropdown to select whether to display your investment transaction lists in one- or two-line mode.
Click OK to save your changes.
Notes By default, investment transactions are shown on one line. Switch to two-line display mode if you want to view more information for each individual transaction.
One-Line Display shows twice as many transactions on the screen.
Two-Line Display allocates two lines for each transaction, and the Memo fields are visible.
Change the sort order of transactions in the transaction list
Open theinvestment transaction list preferenceswindow.
In the right pane, use the Sort choice dropdown list to display your investment transactions by date in ascending or descending order.
Click OK to save your changes.
Notes Alternatively, you can click the Clr, Date, Action, and Security column headings to sort on those columns within a transaction list.
Adjust the width of the transaction list columns
Position your pointer on the dividing line to the right of the column heading you want to adjust. When the pointer changes from an arrow to a resize icon (horizontal arrows pointing left and right), click and drag to increase or decrease the column width.
Show any hidden transactions
Open the investment transaction list preferenceswindow.
In the right pane, select Show hidden transactions.
Click OK to save your changes.
Notes Select this option to view balance adjustments and previously resolved placeholder transactions for your accounts. This gives you greater control of your balance should you need to remove these transactions to correct historical errors. In addition, you can see how your account calculates the balances for your securities and for cash.
Show the Attach button
The Attach button appears next to the Enter, Edit, and Delete buttons at the bottom right of the current transaction. It provides a way for you to attach an electronic imageto a transaction.
Automatically update quotes every 15 minutes
Quicken will automatically retrieve quotes for your securities every 15 minutes. This feature is available in Quicken Premier andHome & Businessonly.
Double-click the transaction you want to edit. You can also select the transaction and click Edit in the toolbar, or choose Transactions > Edit Transaction from the Quicken menu.
Choose Edit menu > Preferences. In the left pane, click Investments. In the right pane, select the settings you want to change. Use the drop-down list to choose whether to display your investment transaction lists in one or two lines.
At the top of the register scrollbar, click the icon.Select the columns you would like to see in your register.(Optional) Click the gear icon in the lower left corner of the column list. You can either apply your changes to all similar registers, or reset all similar registers to their default column set.
The most basic way to move your investments from one broker to another is a cash transfer. If you have a brokerage account, this isn't too difficult. You simply sell all of your securities and then move the cash to the new brokerage.
To rebalance a portfolio, an individual buys or sells assets to reach their desired portfolio composition. As the values of assets change, inevitably the original asset mix will change due to the differing returns of the asset classes. This will change the risk profile of your portfolio.
The missing transaction hasn't cleared your bank yet
Sometimes it takes a few days between when you initiate a transaction and when it clears your bank. It won't download into Quicken until it clears. If your missing transaction is one that is dated recently, it might not have cleared your bank yet.
When you set up an online account and download transactions, you will only see a limited number of transactions, usually the last 90 days of transactions. This is a limit set by banks. This is one reason why you should regularly download transactions from your bank.
Purchases you make through online payment services, such as PayPal or Google Pay will show up on your bank or credit card statement as the name of the payment service. This can help mask your surprise purchase by hiding the retailer you purchased from.
Click to select one or more transactions. You can select multiple transactions at once by using ⌘ + click (to select one-at-a-time) or shift + click to select a range.
In Quicken, choose Transactions > Delete Transaction, or just hit the Delete key on your keyboard.
If you're unable to delete an online Payee or Payment, be sure to verify that these transactions are NOT pending or scheduled under Tools > Online Center > Payments. Anything listed as "Scheduled for delivery" is a pending payment, and the payee cannot be edited until the payment is processed.
