If you've sent messages you might regret, or if you just want to clean up your older chat history, you can easily delete select messages.
Here's how:
Open the Facebook Messenger app on your phone or desktop.
Open a conversation with messages you'd like to delete.
Press and hold on a message, or select the three dots menu icon on desktop.
Select "remove" next to the message.
Select "remove for everyone" -- that makes sure that the messages disappear from the inboxes of the people you sent them to, not just from your own. You have 10 minutes to delete a newer message.
That's it. Soon you'll have the same power that once belonged to Zuckerberg alone. That said, in our tests it looks like some Messenger users don't have the updated mobile app yet. Facebook said it'll roll out by the end of the day Tuesday.
Find the message or messages you want to delete. Hover over the message and select “More” before clicking on “Remove.” If you are on the desktop app, right-click on the message. Select “remove” next to the message and then select “remove for everyone” to delete the message from the recipient's inbox.

You can permanently unsend a message that you've sent or just hide a message from your view. If you select Unsend for You, other people in the chat will still see the messages in their chat screen. If you select Unsend for Everyone, people included in the chat won't be able to see the unsent message.
The other person's messages and conversation will remain on their Messenger app. So they won't know you have deleted the conversation from your end. Keep in mind that if you wish to hide a conversation without permanently deleting it, you can always choose to archive it instead.
Blocking allows you to prevent many interactions with someone's profile on Facebook, but you may still encounter content they've shared. Here's what you might see: Messages: Your message history with a profile you've blocked will stay in your inbox.
Once you block someone from Messenger, they can no longer contact you. This means that they won't be able to send you text, audio, or video messages. They'll only be able to see your profile picture and your previous conversations. They won't be able to know when you were last online or see your online status.
