The average property tax bill statewide in New Jersey was $9,490 in 2022, a $206 increase over the previous year and another record high.

In the Garden State’s most affluent communities, however, property taxes soared well above $21,000, with some homeowners seeing year-over-year increases of $700 or more.

Homeowners in all but three municipalities in the top 30 saw the average bill rise in 2022, with an average increase of about $282.
