Last week, Horizons CDN Select Universe Bond ETF (HBB) was featured in The Globe and Mail's ETF Buyer’s Guide for Canadian Bond Funds!“What sets this popular fund apart is a total-return structure where the unit price rises or falls by a total return of price changes and bond interest,” wrote Rob Carrick. “HBB offers a tax advantage for non-registered accounts in that changes in the unit price are likely to be taxed on sale as capital gains or losses.”Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/gCjXvxDYHorizons CDN Select Universe Bond ETF - HBB: https://lnkd.in/gds2mkVa

Today, Statistics Canada | Statistique Canada released the February 2024 Consumer Price Index (CPI), which rose by only 2.8% YOY, compared to 2.9% in January.CPI represents the change in prices experienced by Canadian consumers by comparing the cost of a fixed basket of goods over time. This chart tracks the inflation measure over the past 2 years.CPI increased 3.9% on an annual average basis in 2023, following a 40-year high of 6.8% in 2022. Rising inflation complicates the situation for the Bank of Canada, which many expect to begin cutting its policy interest rate in the coming months.

Oil is a hot commodity! These charts illustrate Canadian production trends, and the gap between global supply and demand.Canadian crude production jumped 87% between 2005 and 2019. Following a decline due to the COVID-19 pandemic, annual average Canadian oil output hit a record 4.9 million barrels per day (bpd) in 2022. Meanwhile, current daily global oil consumption stands at around 100 million bpd, according to a research from J.P. Morgan. Following recent OPEC cuts, the disparity between the demand for oil and its production is projected to widen, which could bolster oil prices. To learn more, read our latest blog on investing in oil: https://lnkd.in/gwVY49g8
