This graduate certificate will provide people with training in a variety of aspects of insurance law. The program is specifically designed for those who are not lawyers but who need to understand the law governing a variety of different insurance contracts. Courses in the program will cover legal aspects of general insurance, life insurance, insurance in a commercial context and insurance in the global economy. This program has been developed in partnership with the Australian Centre for Insurance Studies and lecturers will be nationally acclaimed experts in their fields.

Prerequisites

  • a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, or
  • to have completed post-secondary studies, plus 5 years of full-time equivalent work experience, or
  • 7 years of full-time equivalent work experience.

You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification.
To enrol in the program, a person must also be part of an approved cohort. Approved cohort means one or more persons from a company or corporate client as approved by agreement with the Executive Dean.

Visa requirements

International students who wish to undertake this program will not qualify for a Student Visa. To study this program in Australia, international students must hold alternative Australian Visa/Residency status with a sufficient study entitlement. Program rules for the Graduate Certificate in Insurance Law

To graduate with a Graduate Certificate in Insurance Law a student must have successfully completed all requirements of the program as certified by the Executive Dean. This includes courses to be taken to complete the program and any other specific conditions of the program including admission, enrolment and progression requirements.
