To do this, you'll need to link your account to Gmail. After you've linked your account, you'll see all your messages in your Gmail inbox, plus these changes:

Note:If you link another account to an existing Gmail account, you might reach your storage limit. Learn how to clear your Google storage.

After you've unlinked your other account from Gmail, you can choose to keep or delete copies of your other account's messages in your Gmail inbox.

  • If you delete copies from Gmail, they'll still be in the inbox of your other service (for example, Yahoo or Hotmail).
  • If you keep copies in Gmail, they'll stay in your Gmail account. However, if you move or delete them in Gmail, these actions won't be reflected in your other account.

Find emails from your other account in Gmail

Gmail might organise your messages differently from other email services.

Empty Bin limit

Messages in your Bin won't necessarily be deleted according to Gmail's 30-day limit, but according to the "Empty Bin" limit of your other mail service.

For example, if your other email service keeps a message in the Bin for 60 days before permanently deleting it, you'll see the message in your Gmail Bin for 60 days.

Archived emails

When you archive an email in Gmail, it's stored in a new Archive folder in your other email service.

To find archived messages in your other account, check the Archive folder.

Labels and folders

When you add a label to a message, you'll see a folder with that label name in your other email account. For example, if you add a Work label to a message in Gmail, you can find the message in a folder called Work in your other email account.

If you add multiple labels to a message, you'll see multiple folders that each have a copy of the message.

Note: Don't add multiple labels to your messages if you have limited storage space in your non-Gmail account.
