Frito-Lay Voluntarily Recalls Potato Chips, May Contain Undeclared Milk (2024)

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says there's been a recall for Frito-Lay barbeque potato chips due to an undeclared allergy alert on the packaging.

They said Frito-Lay issued a limited, voluntary recall of seven 3/4 ounce bags of Lay's Lightly Salted Barbeque Flavored Potato Chips because they may contain undeclared milk ingredients.

The FDA says people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they eat the chips.

They said the products were distributed to retail locations in the following states:

Arkansas

Arizona

California

Colorado

Idaho

Iowa

Kansas

Louisiana

Minnesota

Missouri

Mississippi

Montana

North Dakota

Nebraska

New Mexico

Nevada

Oklahoma

Oregon

South Dakota

Tennessee

Texas

Utah

Washington

Wyoming

The FDA says the recalled products have both a "guaranteed fresh" date of August 27, 2019 and a nine-character manufacturing code that includes the number 29 in the second and third position (example: x29xxxxxx). The FDA says that also will have a UPC code of 28400 63242.
