What is the Purpose of this Form?
Form I-824 is for the beneficiary of an approved Form I-192 or Form I-212 in need of a duplicate of his or her original decision.
When Should I Use Form I-824?
Form I-824 should be used when the original decision has been lost, stolen or mutilated. Under these circ*mstances a duplicate of the decision may be requested from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Admissibility Review Office (ARO). You may also obtain a duplicate of a previously issued indefinite decision that was issued in conjunction with Form I-185, Nonresident Alien Canadian Border Crossing Card (BCC).
Note: Form I-185 is no longer issued, however, you may obtain a duplicate of a previously issued indefinite waiver if the waiver authorization has not been revoked or voided.
Note: If your approved decision expires in less than 6 months, you may want to consider submitting a new Form I-192 application.
Application Filing Fee
The completed Form I-824 application, with a fee of $465.00 US dollars and a short explanation of why a duplicate is required, can be mailed to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Admissibility Review Office, 22685 Holiday Park Drive, Suite 10, Sterling, VA 20598-1234, or submitted in person at a CBP-designated port of entry.
Application Status Inquiries
Please allow at least 90 days from the date of submission of your Form I-824 before making an inquiry about the status of your application. A full review of your circ*mstances can take up to six months or longer. You may ask for an update by emailing aroinquirywaiver@cbp.dhs.gov. Attorneys or a properly designated representative may ask for an update by emailing aroattorneyinquirywaiver@cbp.dhs.gov. Be sure to provide your full name, DOB, and your number.
Address Changes
Please note that CBP decisions and requests for evidence or additional information will be sent to the address you provide on your application. Failure to respond to a CBP request can result in an application being denied. Hence, if you change your address while a Form I-824 application is pending with CBP, you should inform CBP of your new address. You can accomplish this update by sending a letter with your biographic information and both your old and new addresses to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Admissibility Review Office, 22685 Holiday Park Drive, Suite 10, Sterling, VA 20598-1234. You can also email updated information toaroinquirywaiver@cbp.dhs.gov. Attorneys and other accredited representatives can notify the ARO on behalf of their clients by regular mail or by e-mail viaaroattorneyinquirywaiver@cbp.dhs.gov.
