What happens if you don't answer the door for FedEx? ›

Delivery attempts

If a shipment requires, either an indirect, direct or adult signature, and a delivery attempt is made, but no one is there to sign for the package, the driver will leave a door tag at the recipient's door. If no signature is required, the shipment will be left at the recipient's door.

FedEx Express is often known for its delivery speed. In most cases, it offers next-day delivery for packages delivered within the same state, and two-day delivery for packages delivered to other states. FedEx Ground, in contrast, is designed for delivery within 1 to 5 business days, depending on geographic location.

If the package requires a signature for delivery, UPS will usually make up to three delivery attempts on consecutive business days. If the recipient is still not available to sign for the package after three attempts, UPS may return the package to the sender. If the package is a high-value item or requires special hand.
