What is FCD Account for Non-Residents?

FCD Account for Non-Residents is Bangkok Bank’s foreign currency deposit service that enables you to deposit foreign currency in 14 main currencies. You can deposit, withdraw or transfer the money in the account without converting money into local baht suitable for non-residents who would like to save foreign currency earned from overseas and convert them to baht whenever they prefer the exchange rate and for non-residents who work in Thailand and would like to save money in foreign currency in the account.

Can I save the money transferred from overseas in foreign currency?

FCD account enebles you to save money in foreign currency transferred from aboard in the account and convert them into local baht whenever you prefer the exchange rate.

Can I deposit local baht into FCD account?

You can deposit your local baht into the account by displaying income statement from employer and be able to deposit as the amount shown upon the bank officer.

Can I transfer foreign currency from FCD account into overseas saving account?

Yes, and the withdrawal transaction fees for FCD accounts will be varied depending on the currency between 0.25%-1.25% Of withdrawal money (minimum at 500 baht) and fees will be applies for transferring money to overseas (400 or 1,150 baht for major currencies except JPY and HKD). y Bangkok Bank branch providing FCD services.

What special conditions apply to open a Special Savings Foreign Currency Deposit Account?

  • You need to open an account with a minimum first deposit of USD1,000 or the equivalent. You also need to maintain a monthly average of USD250. The bank will charge USD10 if your account balance drops under USD250.You can only convert local baht into foreign currency with the bank and deposit into the account.
  • You can deposit up to USD5 million or the equivalent in such country in the case of deposit without evidence for the overseas expenses or the amount in overseas expenses letter.

Can I withdraw the money from my FCD account in Bangkok Bank’s overseas branches?

No. There is no such services yet.

What is the maximum amount I can withdraw from my FCD account?

There is no limited withdrawal amount to get the local baht. If you withdraw more than 2 million baht, you have to inform the purpose to the bank.

Which rate does the bank use in withdrawing FCD into baht?

Bangkok Bank uses the ‘Buying TT Rate’ for withdrawing the money into local baht with no fees charged.

Can I deposit and withdraw money from my FCD account in a foreign currency?

Yes, however, a fee will apply in depositing and withdrawing with foreign banknotes as follows:

  • 1 % of depositing or withdrawal money for USD (minimum at 500 baht)
  • 2% of depositing or withdrawal money for another currency (minimum at 500 baht)

What should I do if I would like to open an FCD account?

Prepare the documents for opening FCD account as the bank’s conditions and contact at Bangkok Bank’s branches with FCD service nationwide.

Can I open FCD account using Tourist Visa?

The bank can open an FCD account for customer holding Tourist or other types of Visa.

Where can I deposit and withdraw the money?

If you opened your FCD account at Bangkok Bank’s Headquarters or another branch outside Bangkok that provides Foreign Currency Deposit Services. However, if you opened your FCD account at Foreign Department in Bangkok Bank in Bangkok and surrounding provinces, you can deposit and withdraw the money from the branch you opened your account only.

Can I manage my FCD account online?

You can manage your FCD account via Bualuang iBanking Service, such as, checking account balance and account statement over the last two months, transferring funds from your FCD account into your local baht account.
However, the users are still unable to transfer funds from FCD accounts into overseas account via Bualuang iBanking Service.

What is the minimum saving needed to maintain in the US dollar deposit account for foreigners with foreign account?

You need to maintain a monthly average of USD250 for saving account and current account. For fixed deposit account, it should be USD500 per deposit.
The bank will charge USD10 per month if your account balance drops under USD250.

Can I authorize another person to conduct transactions on my behalf?

The account owner can authorize another person to conduct transactions on your behalf, you and the authorized person must sign together the authorization form and signature card in front of a bank officer. Please bring along your ID card or passport. There will also be a duty stamp of 30 baht for each authorized person. However, if you want to close the account, only you can close the account.

Can I have an ATM card linked with my FCD account?

The ATM card service for FCD account is not available yet.

I forgot my passbook. Can I make a transaction without a passbook?

Yes, you can make a transaction without a passbook.

Can I close my account without a passbook?

No, you can’t. A passbook is required to close an account.
