1. Do I need an appointment to view archival records?

Yes. Visitors who wish to use archival records must call in advance. Not all of our records are located in our location at One Bowling Green. Most of our records are located in off site storage and need to be returned to our office before they are ready to be used.

2. How long does it take to retrieve records from our off site storage facility?

It takes a week to 10 business days to retrieve records from our off site storage facility and make them available in our research room.

3. Do I need an appointment to view microfilm or use a Public Access Computer?

No. The archives facility offers self-service microfilm printers and Public Access Computers without an appointment. The archives facility staff may impose time limits if a waiting list develops.

4. Do I need a NARA researcher identification card to view archival records?

Yes. To use archival records, visitors must present a NARA researcher identification card. Applicants must show official identification with a photograph, such as a driver's license, passport, school, or business ID. Applicants must complete a form providing their name, address, telephone number, and a brief description of their research. NARA researcher ID cards are valid for 1 year. They may be renewed.
