Today’s post – Don’t Fall for a Financial Scammer – is motivated by an email I received that landed in my Junk filter. Caught a spammer scammer!

Friends, just like I’ve written posts to help you avoid romance scammers, it’s important not to fall for financial scammers. Their game is similar, but romancing you might not always be part of the plan. Separating you from your money is the same goal.

I’m not talking about what happens on a farm. For sure a topic that a vegetarian like me doesn’t want to discuss. Pig butchering is a financial scam that often avoids “investing” in crypto currency with the promise of high returns. The scammer sets up a website or an app and finds victims who will invest money. And then persuades them to invest more money as the “value” increases dramatically with profits.

When the “investment account” shows a hefty sum and the victim tries to withdraw money, they are unable to do so.

Let’s start at the top. Who’s the scammer who emailed me? I’m going to unlink the email addresses so no one accidentally clicks and emails Mohammad the scammer.

I received the email, same as how anyone can contact me on this blog, but the email address showing in the header is: cheryl@thefrenchtranslationcompany.com

The rest of the email

Without getting too overloaded with details, Mohammad the scammer can’t even get his act together on email addresses.

Ladies, we have to be smart with our money. Don’t hand over any money to some random scammer that emails or texts us.

Got it? That’s the most important takeaway. Never give money to someone you don’t know in person. If you already deal with a financial planner or banker, you can listen to their advice and decide what to do with your money.

Another very important tidbit of advice when dealing with any financial investor or any reputable business – they are NOT using a gmail account. Or any other free email server account either.

Reputable financial advisors will have the name of their company or website as part of their email address.

Enough said!
