One of the positive takeaways from my chats with senior finance stakeholders (e.g. #CFO, #Financial Controller (FC), #Finance Directors, etc.) such as Seng Chong Tan in the earlier years of my career is how they plan their transfer pricing strategies for cross-border transactions. My albeit rudimentary understanding of #transferpricing is that while transfer pricing might appear more relevant to companies dealing in physical goods, its importance is equally pronounced for #technology and #fintech companies given the global nature of their operations, the prevalence of intangible assets, and the need for #regulatory #compliance and #tax efficiency. For instance, transfer pricing methodologies help determine the value of IP and other intangible assets. This is essential for fintech companies where much of the value is tied up in #software, #algorithms, #patents, trademarks, and customer relationships.Once you have a price assigned to the IP, the pricing of cross-border transactions involving intangible assets will 100% affect how profits are allocated among different entities within a multinational group. This is critical for accurately reflecting the contribution of each entity to the entire group.
