Just got word from the city that Blue Frog Cafe, a gourmet burger spot in Old Towne Orange, has closed.
The cafe was operated by the folks who run the popularBlue Frog Bakeryin downtown Orange onSouth Glassell Street. That shop, which serves pastries, breakfast and lunch, remains open.
Blue Frog Cafe, located at 152 N. Glassell St., featured more than a dozen specialty Angus beef burgers such as Pig Frog (bacon, fried egg, cheddar cheese, avocado, frizzled onions, lettuce, tomato, mayo) and The Sloppy Toad (made with chili).
According to Yelp, the eatery generated decent reviews with many people raving over thehouse madebuns. The location, nestled in an alley in downtown Orange, could have been a problem.
Update: A reader reports a note on the door citing a familyillness for the closure. Also, the landlord confirmed that the family didn’t want to run two restaurants after a death in the family.
