CHOIR CASH! Fun Extrinsic Motivators for Choir *3 Sizes, 5 Choral Composers*
This CHOIR CASH resource features the following five choral composers:
*Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
*Johann Sebastian Bach
*Eric Whitacre
*Zoltan Kodály
*Morten Lauridsen
The Choir Cash comes in three different sizes – SMALL (21 to a page), MEDIUM (10 to a page) and LARGE (2 to a page) - in both COLOR and B&W (grayscale). Five choral composers are featured: Morten Lauridsen, Eric Whitacre, J.S. Bach, W.A. Mozart and Zoltan Kodály. Each dollar says “Choir Cash” across the top and “In Music We Trust” across the bottom, and they all have a treble clef and a bass clef on either side of the featured choral composer.
**Included is one MEDIUM-sized (10 to a page) sheet with all five composers (two of each composer) on one page (in both Color and Black & White) if you’d prefer to make copies of all composers at the same time.**
Choir Cash can make wonderful EXTRINSIC MOTIVATORS to encourage students to practice and can significantly help students in overcoming some of the beginning choir hurdles by providing a little extra motivation. Just print, cut out and distribute! You can hand them out when students accomplish goals, come to class prepared, demonstrate outstanding leadership, or anything else that deserves recognition. Students also love the competitive element and will work hard to become wealthy with choir cash!

Select the page with the choir cash of the desired size and print in color or B&W. If you’re going to make double-sided copies (which looks great, as having the image on both sides makes the choir cash look even more like an authentic dollar bill!) it works best in my experience to print out two single-sided copies, then use the 1 —> 2 function to scan/print. You may then use a paper cutter to trim edges, with up to five pages at a time, depending on the quality of the paper cutter.
You can develop your own unique uses for Choir Cash, which might include rewarding students for learning/memorizing their parts, demonstrating good behavior and leadership, being helpful, coming to class prepared, etc. I like to inform them which actions will earn them choir cash, which provides them with specific goals.
I recommend building up a “Choir Store” with choir supplies and fun items including pencils, erasers, binders, laminate sleeves, stickers, etc. Music in Motion (catalog) is a great source for building up a choir store with incentivizing items such as the ones referenced above. You can decide how much each store item is worth based on how generous you are with the choir cash and how much funding you have available to stock up your store. Enjoy!
