Bible Journaling on a Budget (Without Breaking the Bank) - (2024)

Bible journaling is a powerful way to illustrate the truth of God’s Word with purpose and meaning. It is a life-giving way that we as daughters of the King can hide Scripture in our hearts with flair, delight, and splashes of color.

After all, we truly serve a creative God! But sometimes Bible journaling can get expensive.

There is nothing like the thrill of walking down the isles of my favorite craft store and admiring all of the beautiful paper, stickers, post-it notes and washi tape–it’s like being a kid in a candy store!

But the price tags of some of the items I desire often bring me back to the reality that I live on a budget.

As a stay-at-home mom of four young kids living on one income, I just cannot justify purchasing an abundance of Bible journaling supplies in this season of our family life.

Thankfully, I have discovered that it is possible toBible journal on a tight budget, and to freely worship the Lord in through our God-given creativity.

Here are my top five favorite ways!

1. Shop your local thrift stores

I love shopping at thrift stores in their crafting sections, and can usually find great items for Bible journaling and scrapbooking for a great price! I have found great stamps, scrapbook paper, cardstock, and stickers for sometimes as low as $.25!

2. Shop at the dollar store

Dollar stores have a variety of stickers, stamps, cute post-it notes, washi tape, and other craft supplies that are perfect for Bible journaling. The beauty of it is, most of these items are only $1.00! Before heading to your local craft store, don’t forget to stop by your local dollar store!

3. Make your own stickers

I love making stickers on the design website called Canva. It’s free to use, and you can create some pretty amazing creations from your very own computer instead of buying stickers.

The only product that you need to buy is 8.5″x 11″ full sheet sticker paper that you can order online pretty inexpensively.

Here are some Bible journaling stickers that I created to go along with the free Garments of Freedom Bible Study. You can download the stickers by clicking below!

4. Use old scraps from greeting cards, wrapping paper and scrapbook paper

It used to be so hard for me to throw away the beautiful cards I received from friends and family, because the designs were just stunning! I then started cutting out the designs from the cards to use for journaling. It’s a great way to reuse beautiful artwork!

5. Try digital Bible journaling

Many people Bible journal digitally by usingAdobePhotoshop. But since Photoshop can be a bit pricey, I recently decided to try my hand at digital Bible journaling using Canva.

To do this, I choose a passage of Scripture and create digital pages that can be saved on my computer.

You can even print off the pages you design and insert them in a journal, and it’s completely free!

Here is one way you can do this using Canva:

First, choose a document size in Canva. You can custom-size your documents to fit the size of your journal or planner.

Next, choose a grid. These are really nice blank templates that you can easily drag images into.
