Is Barron's harder than the actual test? ›

From what I've seen, Barron's does tend to lean on the side of being more difficult than the actual AP exams. A lot of students notice that the questions in Barron's review materials can sometimes feel more complex and may cover content in a depth that surpasses what you might encounter on exam day.

Who Should Use This Book. Barron's is best for those who have a long time to dedicate to studying for the AP Psychology test. You'll need to use it over a longer period of time in order to be able to take full advantage of the diagnostic and practice tests and become familiar with each topic area.

I bought this book after getting a 2170 on the SAT; I was aiming for a perfect score and was shocked that I had scored so much below my goal. Barron's is known for being harder than the test, and in my case as I was aiming for near perfection, this was the right tool.

As a general rule I prefer Kaplan books because their level of difficulty best matches that of the actual SAT. If you are an advanced student, however, you might prefer Baron's, which tend to focus on harder material.

#1: Take a Complete Test

The College Board currently has four official practice tests for the SAT available. Taking an official practice test is important because it will keep your practice test experience as realistic as possible and give you the most accurate estimate of what your scores will be on the real SAT.

If you're looking at pass rates, Physics 1 is the toughest AP exam. And less than 8% of test-takers received a perfect score.

You ALWAYS need to review missed problems on practice tests and in drills, and their explanations are first rate.
