Atoms, Molecules, and Bonds (2024)

The Atoms, Molecules, & Bonds content covers atoms, molecules, ions, covalent bonds, and ionic bonds. In my classroom I use the teacher slides as a traditional lecture and then have students do the worksheet after the lecture. On the next day I would have them do the mind map and then take the quiz. If you want to change things up you could assign the student slides and Cornell notes, as a flipped assignment, and then give the lecture the second day. The student slides have the reading pages and all videos from the teacher slides included. I've tried to give you as many options as possible.

I have used Pear Deck for the teacher presentation slide to boost student engagement. The student slides have most of the teacher slides along with the reading pages, worksheet and mind map included. These are also available in print form. There is a sheet for Cornell notes. Cornell notes are a great way to take notes and with this resource it helps to organize this type of note-taking. A quiz is included along with answer keys for all resources. All lessons that I have created have these components. I hope you enjoy the lesson.

Why use Bison Discovery?

I am passionate about science! I want to provide a great resource for teachers to use in their classrooms. The products are designed with online learning in mind. There are different options and products that you can you choose from to use. I hope you like It!

Who is it for?

This if for anyone who needs online resources that can be used immediately. It does not matter where you are in your teaching career, we can all use some help. I hope that this makes life just a little bit easier for you.

Online tools:

I am offing these products on Google Drive. If you would prefer the PDF versions of everything but the presentations, email me at bisondiscovery@gmail.com. I would be happy to send those to you in a zip file.

The teacher presentations are used with Pear Deck. Pear deck is an interactive presentation tool used to actively engage students in individual and social learning. I have created resources in Google Drive to use on Pear Deck. I have used the Premium Option. This give you options of drawing, websites and drag and drop. You can get a trial membership to see if this something you would like to use. If you do not choose to upgrade, you can just delete the slides with the premium slides.

Vocabulary:

You will find that vocabulary is a taught explicitly in the presentations. In both the teacher and student presentations I have included slide with vocabulary words and definitions. I am a big believer in explicitly teaching vocabulary words. Biology has many words from Greek or Latin origin. Teaching the vocabulary explicitly helps to differentiate for ELL or special education students.

Student assignment options:

The student slide are Google slides that you can assign in Google Classroom. They include reading pages, some slides from the teacher presentation, worksheets in response or drag and drop options, as well as mind maps. These do not require Pear Deck. Student can view and answer all questions without going into presentation mode.

You can also print out the reading pages, Cornell notes, worksheets and mind maps on paper or assignment them separately on Google Classroom.

If you buy the whole unit you will receive a Digital Student Notebook with the PDF resources included in a presentation where they can answer questions.

What types of files?

Google slides and PDFs are the file types I have included. If you have trouble opening them or you need a different format email me at bisondiscovery@gmail.com

If you like my stuff, please leave feedback for me! I would like to know specifically what you enjoyed and how you used this in your classroom. I want to continue to create resources that are beneficial to you and your students. This material has been a joy to create so if you have any other ideas, I would love to help you out!
