Are You Making Money From Blogging Yet? (2024)

Are you making money from blogging yet? I haven’t. But, I am in the process of doing so!

Things Beginners Should Know When Creating a Blog or Website

As I have said in my article about blogging (https://myshadesofemerald.com/beginners-blog/), making money from blogging or owning a website is just like any other business. It entails a lot of hard work. There is no magic to it, and it won’t be an overnight success.

My Purpose in Creating a Blog

My primary purpose in creating a blog is for me to write my thoughts, feelings, and opinions about anything and everything about family, lifestyle, relationships, and more. Finding out that I can monetize my blog was a “bonus.” I decided, “why not?” It would be like hitting two birds with one stone. And, as they say, “Do what you love, and you’ll never work another day in your life.”

Can You Really Make Money Blogging?

Can we really make money blogging? The answer: I don’t know. However, there are many articles, writings, and video tutorials all over the web about how one can make money doing this. I found many testimonies that swore they’ve made money up to thousands of Dollars blogging. Just look on Pinterest, and you will see all kinds of posts about how one can make money with blogging. Browse the web, and you will read more about it. It’s crazy, and I am hoping this is not just all hype. I figured if others can make money, then, why can’t I?

” A goal without a plan is just a wish.”

How to Make Money from Blogging?

From what I gathered, there are many ways on how to make money from blogging. Here are some of them:

Affiliate Marketing

According to Pat Flynn in Smart Passive Income, “affiliate marketing is the process of earning a commission by promoting other people’s (or company’s) products. You find a product you like, promote it to others and earn a piece of the profit for each sale that you make.” It’s as simple as that.

There are many different Affiliate Marketing Companies. I have joined some of them. The following are the ones I have affiliated with:

  1. Click Bank
  2. Share A Sale
  3. Rakuten Marketing
  4. Amazon Associates
  5. Commission Junction
  6. Warrior Plus
Ad Revenue

Ad Revenue is the income or monies you earn by using your blog or website space to advertise specific products or services. The biggest Ad Revenue company is Google Adsense. Adsense had approved my application, but I had some issues, so they temporarily suspended my account for 30 days. So far, I have earned (but has not been paid due to the suspension) $52.00 from them.

“The best way to predict your future is to create it.”

Abraham Lincoln

There are other Ad Revenue companies that you can use for your blog/website. The following are the most popular:

  1. Media.net (I have this, too but I have not earned anything just yet).
  2. Pop Ads
  3. Mediavine
  4. RevContent
  5. Infolinks
  6. PopCash
Video Tutorials

You create video tutorials, webinars, and e-courses, and charge your subscribers or followers a fee to view them.

Sell tangible products

It seems like the best and simplest way to monetize your blog or website is to sell your product. You can sell pretty much everything online.

Offer Services

Just like tangible products, you can also offer services for a fee.

Native Advertising

According to Sharethrough, “Native advertising is a form of paid media where the experience follows the natural form and function of the user experience in which it is placed.” Simply put, it is a kind of advertisem*nt that is not too obvious to the readers. As they say, it is not too “salesy.”

There are different types of native advertising. Two of them are the following:

Sponsored Post– A company sponsors a blog post wherein the company, or any of its products are mentioned in the post.

Product or Service Review – This is a blog post where the blog author reviews a product or service that he/she tried or experienced.

Podcasting

Podcast or podcasting is a series of audio files. It is much like an episode on TV, but this one is online or on a mobile device. There is free podcasting, but there are also paid ones. Thus, if you do podcasting, then you make money.

E-Books or Electronic Books

This is the electronic version of a printed book. You sell the E-book to make money.

“All things are difficult before they are easy.”

Thomas Fuller

These are just some of the ways to make money onlineespecially through blogging.

Is it for real?

Is it for real?Honestly, I do believe so. But, just like any other business or career, it may or may not be for you. It is just like being a doctor or a lawyer. Not everyone can be a doctor or a lawyer. It still depends on one’s abilities and skills. And, just like any other business, it takes time to grow. In the beginning, you might lose money before you gain. It takes patience, perseverance, and determination.

Am I making moneynow?

Am I making money through my blog now? No, I am not! So far, I’ve put money out (for Bluehost, Convertkit, Canva, etc.) I am still in the process of figuring out the right mix of possible ways to make money. So far, I am doing the Affiliate Marketing, Ad Revenue, and soon, I will also be selling a product.

A New Goal

The primary goal why I created the blog is to write. But, because I can also monetize it, earning has also become a new goal. As I have said in the beginning, if this will help give me financial freedom, then, why not?

“If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.”

Milton Berle

Go for it!

I have been blogging since January 2019. It’s been three months but I have not made a significant amount of money. Other people would have given up already. But, I won’t. I have set up my own achievable goals. I will give it time. There is a long way to go. I know others took them a year before they made money. So, I am not behind. I will continue doing this and see where it takes me. I am optimistic. So, I will go for it!

In the end, if things don’t work out, then, maybe it is notfor me.

If it does (work), then, it was mine from the very beginning!

I encourage YOU!

If you are like me, and you are just starting your blogging business, DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED! Go ahead and do your research, learn, and try new things. It is a risk but a risk worth taking. The opportunity is right before us, so it is up to us to grab it and make the most out of it.

Let do this and make money together!

“Successful people don’t have fewer problems. They have determined that nothing will stop them from going forward.”
