April Birchbox Review | The Future is NOW! 5 Fabulous eco-beauty swaps. – Eclectically Ema (2024)

The April Birchbox review is going to be a good one this month.

This month, Birchbox has chosen each product with their theme in mind. The Future is Now!

I think we forget that with every single thing we purchase, there is an environmental impact. Good and bad.

That’s why it’s so important to do your research into things before you buy them to see if they are a good fit for you and your not buying things unnecessarily.

Each product has its own little way of helping the environment, which I think is great, don’t you?

This months @birchboxuk is perfectly themed and is called ‘The Future is Now’. As some of you may know, April 22nd is Earth day. Birchbox really nailed the box swap for a sustainable product that can be used in so so many different ways.

This month they have swapped out the usual box for an awesome reusable silicone bag from Stasher Bag

These bags can seriously be used for almost anything, they are so versatile it’s mind-boggling!

Here are the ways you can use a stasher bag as an eco swap in your kitchen.

They don’t just have to be used for food either, anything you want to use them for is perfect!

Being earth day in April, it’s important we find solutions to be more sustainable, the stasher bag is a great swap for plastic tubs or bags.

Also, I’m super excited to try all the products and give you my opinion in this April Birchbox review.

Honestly, I was always sceptical about things like this. I wondered if they would be as good as the bottled stuff, how it would make my hair feel and if it would turn slimy like a bar of soap does?

Then along came a Greenfrog Botanicshampoo bar, and this is probably the best product I have received, I couldn’t wait to write about it in the April Birchbox review.

I was honestly amazed at the result, how easy it was to use and omg you wouldn’t believe how incredible it smells.

This left my hair feeling so clean, silky and smooth. Honestly, I could rave about this all day!

This is an amazing eco-swap that is only going to do good things for your hair.

A blend of argan oil, rose oil and aloe Vera not only gives your hair the deep clean it needs, but it also helps to deeply hydrate your locks.

It’s vegan, nasty chemical free AND It’s 100% plastic-free which is obviously better for the environment.

Did you know the UK throws out 520 million shampoo bottles each year? I know that I didn’t so when I read this, I was honestly shocked!

This was a sample size of their full-size product, and it lasted me about a month of washing my hair 3-4 times a week. So a full-size bar will last much longer and is much more cost-effective than bottled shampoos.

There is no denying that some of the key ingredients in the Huygens ParisElixir Night Concentrate can have incredible benefits for your skin. Let’s take a look at some of them.⠀

Coconut oil is high in fatty acids, and the ones found in coconut oil have antimicrobial properties, which could help treat acne. It has also been shown that it can help to relieve inflammation of the skin, keep your skin hydrated.⠀

These are just a few out of the amazing ingredients in this little bottle and I don’t think the April Birchbox Review is enough for this one skincare gem. It could literally have a whole post written about it, that’s how incredible all the ingredients are!

I haven’t been using it for that long, but have noticed small changes in my skin.I do notice that it is a lot softer and less greasy in the morning and less greasy throughout the day which is a win for me because I can have quite greasy skin. ⠀

This is a great product from the April Birchbox for your nighttime skincare routine if your skin is more on the dry side, you are concerned about ageing or you want to help combat any fine lines that might be appearing.

Now, this is one of my favourite skincare products this year so far!

If you’re still looking for a great serum that can be used morning and evening, then you obviously haven’t tried this from Algologie.

I first received this in my Birchbox advent calendar and oh my god, it was a staple in my daily routine until it ran out!

So to receive this in the April Birchbox was amazing.

This is great when you need an instant hit of hydration. It soaks in so so quickly, it smells so fresh and also isn’t overpowering.

A little goes a long way and is perfect to wear underneath your everyday moisturiser without leaving you feeling greasy.

Containing Hyaluronic acid to help to deeply moisturise as well as having 95% natural ingredients. 80% of which are sourced from where Algologie is based in Brittany.

I remember the first time I used this, I panicked because as it was srying it was feeling sticky. If this happens to you, do not panic! The stickiness goes away completely once the product has soaked in.

This mascara is from The Beauty Crop and called ‘Fabulous Flocking Lashes’

I’m always interested in trying new mascaras because I always tend to stick to the same one, so don’t ever get to see what different ones are out there.

I read reviews on this before I tried it, and they were very mixed. I was obviously going to give this one a go, so I tried it anyway.

Sadly, I was very unimpressed.

I would say that this mascara is good if you want a very understated natural look.

I applied a couple of coats and it started to clump up on my lashes. Not great for building layers of product and creating an impact.

I also noticed my eyes itching for most of the afternoon I was wearing it, which is probably those clumps flaking off. It may have been the formula, I don’t know, but remember it is different for everyone.

I always feel really guilty when I don’t love a product and I write about it, but I always want to give you an honest review on each and every product that I try. I also try to make sure I give both positive and negative points to them.

Great for a natural wispy lash, no good for building volume and definition. This mascara also comes in a squeezy tube which means your able to get the most amount of product out of the tube before buying a new one.

Isn’t this just the best colour?

Perfect for prepping your nails in preparation for summer, or more importantly the further easing of lockdown here in the UK!

The final surprise from my April Birchbox from Nails.INC this colour is called ‘Looking Super Juicy’.

This polish went on really nicely, and the finish of it was great. It has a subtle hint ofwatermelon scent and is enriched with vitamin C, this is a great way to give your nails a growth boost as well as a colour pop.

I wouldn’t say that it’s quick-drying but lots of thin coats will give you the best outcome and dry the quickest.

Nails.INC is a cruelty-free brand and their range of products are nearly 100% vegan, which is a huge step in being earth-friendly.

I used Essie clear base and top coatto give that extra shine and protection from chipping.

I was pretty impressed with Aprils Birchbox. I absolutely adore the stasher bag and feel that it was a much more thought out swap than previous ones have been.

I can totally see the reason they picked most of the products. They all had an eco thing about them that made them a bit more plant-friendly whether that was being plastic free, vegan or organic and locally sourced.

I think what could have improved the April Birchbox was they could have made sure all the products were plastic-free and all free from those nasty chemicals we try to avoid.
