Biometric information will be taken (ten fingerprints and a photograph). You pay the applicatoin fee at the Embassy via card. All family members who apply at the same time – including children – must visit the embassy. You can find the address of the Embassy under 'Contact'.

Long-stay visas are visas that expire in 1 year or more and such visas take Swedish embassies up to 30 working days to process. In special cases, applicants may have to wait for up to 60 working days for their visas. For short-stay visas that expire in 180 days, the waiting period may extend to 15 working days.

A Schengen visa can be issued for a maximum of 90 days. U.S citizens do not need a visa to visit Sweden if the visit is 90 days or less. Visa applications for travel to Sweden can be submitted to one of the VFS Global Visa Application Centers in the USA.
