US-based tech giant Apple Inc may exclude the iPhone SE 4 from its new product planning for 2024/2025. Taking to Twitter on Friday, Ming Chi-Kuo, an Apple Analyst said, "I think SE 4 is not currently part of Apple's new product planning for 2024/2025." In one of his previous forecasts, the analyst had said that the product would be a derivative model of the iPhone 14.
Kuo implied that this reportedly derivative model will serve as an engineering prototype for the Tim Cook-led company's in-house 5G baseband chip technology in his latest research. It would also be an important part of the mass production validation process. However, plans for mass production and sales of iPhone SE 4 itself do not seem to be on the table, Kuo indicated as per an IANS report.

The Apple Analyst further stated that the mass production schedule for Apple's in-house 5G baseband chip will depend majorly on the results from the testing phase of this engineering prototype.
"Advanced-node technology to be employed for mass production of Apple in-house 5G baseband chip will depend on the mass production schedule," IANS cited Kuo saying.
With that in mind, mass production could begin as early as 2025. Kuo did leave room for delays in his prediction. He mentioned that the testing not matching up to set expectations could lead to the entire process being moved to 2026 or later.
Meanwhile, Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro models have been generating major speculations amongst those who follow the brand’s products. The possibility of this phone having physical buttons is currently being entertained. There was a lot of buzz surrounding solid-state buttons instead of traditional ones on the phone earlier. Kuo is of the view that unresolved technical problems prior to mass production played a part in the traditional physical button design.
