We are being built up as a spiritual house to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ [the perfect sacrifice] (1Peter 2:5-6)
The sacrifices we offer unto God must be offered by faith in Jesus Christ.
2Corinthians 8:5 says, “they first gave of themselves unto God…”. It’s important that you first “present yourself first unto God…” (Romans 12:1)
There are Living Sacrifices and there are dead sacrifices. When people give themselves to dead sacrifices, they do not know what they are doing or getting themselves into. Dead sacrifices are unable to deliver one in the days of troubles. The sacrifice we offer unto God is the perfect sacrifice because it is offered through Jesus who is the greatest sacrifice offered unto God for our redemption. God expects from us to offer sacrifices in response to the sacrifice offered through Jesus. As children of God, we need to arise in the name of Jesus who has made the perfect sacrifice on our behalf; we need to respond to His sacrifice in faith. Whatever God has promised us is already provisioned because the price has already been paid in full. God will give us all things, especially because He willingly gave His Son as sacrifice on our behalf. You cannot come to Jesus and come to a dead end. Why? Because Jesus is the Living sacrifice.
It’s very important that you give your all to God in response to the acceptable sacrifice by faith for every other sacrifice you offer to have any significance or be acceptable. The condition of your heart is a major factor that determines whether your sacrifices will be acceptable or not.
Four Sacrifices Acceptable to God
- Sacrifices of your Lips Hebrews 13:15-16
Offering praise to God continually, even in challenging times is a sacrifice. Let the fruit of your lips be acceptable unto God.
- Sacrifice of yourself Romans 12:1; Isaiah 66:20
You need to offer ourselves unto God; we are to pour out our lives as an offering unto God. Your lifetime should be spent in faithful service unto God.
- Sacrifice of your substance
Does God have your pocket? As a believer it is wrong to have issues with giving, even if it involves giving to your enemy as the Jesus urged us to. We are to follow the pattern of God, who willingly gave the precious life of His only begotten Son for our salvation.
