Development

Transport facility has seen commendable improvement over the last couple of years. BMTC buses & BIAS buses to BIAL ply through Electronic City. Several residential projects - apartments and layouts are being developed in the stretch between Neeladri Road and Thogur. Reputed educational institutions and medical facilities are located in Electronic City. Number of shops and services is increasing by the day. Bio-Tech Park, Helix, is being set up by the Dept of Bio Technology in 75 acres of Phase III.

The much awaited Cauvery water ( Phase II Stage 4) was commissioned on 31 October 2012 to many areas around Electronics City, including Bommanahalli. Areas newly added to BBMP will get cauvery water, but not the 110 villages ( including parts of Doddathoguru and Konappana Agrahara) that were added to the Greater Bangalore in 2009, upgrading BMP to BBMP. A proposal had been submitted by BWSSB ( Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board) to the government for allocating an additional 18 tmc ft of water for the 110 villages. Even if the proposal is approved, only Basapura and Chikkathoguru villages of Doddathoguru Gram Panchayat which are within the Greater bangalore limits will benefit. Dodda Thoguru village and Neeladri Road in Electronic City will still be deprived of Cauvery water; since Dodda Thoguru village is not within BBMP ( Greater Bangalore) limits no provision has been made by BWSSB for new connections in the residential area.

Residents of Electronic City have been left high and dry after the tug-of-war between BBMP and the industries for governance of the area. With no provision for Cauvery water, further depletion of ground water table is inevitable due to the numerous bore-wells drilled by real-estate projects mushrooming in this area. According to a sample survey done by CGWB ( Central Ground water Board), water level has gone down to 25-30 metres and high levels of nitrate render the water unfit for drinking or domestic purposes unless tested regularly or treated. Chances of contamination are also high due to unchecked dumping of waste. Summers can be harsh with heavy dependence on private tankers.
