It's still extremely difficult to start a credit union today. But what if we built "templates" for specific types of credit union charters? Think about it. When credit unions began there were LOTS of postal worker, railroad worker, teacher, parishioners credit unions, for example. The application process requires bylaws, policies, procedures, business/financial/marketing plans. They would all be so similar. The problem today is there is no one (no state or national trade association) that will help start new credit unions. We merge them in a blink of an eye. But it takes years to start one.
