Stainless steel is a low-maintenance material. It is non-absorbent, non-malleable, and does not change its state. With all these qualities, stainless steel water bottles do not accumulate toxic moisture, mosses, and rust. There are various tips and tricks on how to maintain the high-end durability and sanitation of your stainless steel water bottles.
Stainless steel, however, also have their weakness despite its reputable durability. Some chemicals when applied to stainless steel water bottles can damage the texture and the coating of the material which may lead to unwanted taste or smell to the water or the liquid it contains.
Cleaning your stainless steel bottles is not really a difficult task depending on the number of stains, smell, or taste you want to eliminate from the bottle itself. Here are specific ways to clean your stainless steel water bottles:
- The interior surfaces of the stainless steel water bottles can normally form non-toxic moisture through the particles that remained from the liquids. Primarily, if you would like to do a complete clean-up of your stainless steel water bottles, it is preferable to soak it in hot water. This will soften all the hardened liquids and dirt from the exterior and interior surfaces of the bottle. In cleaning stainless steel water bottles, use the appropriate materials to wipe, rinse, and touch every surface inside the bottle such as a sponge, wool, or brush. You may use soap,
- For the overly used out stainless steel bottles, you may try cleaning it with a paste of baking soda and water. This is to eliminate the smell of the liquids contained in the bottle. After applying, rinse the bottle with vinegar, make sure it bubbles and fizzes. The purpose of vinegar is to disinfect the hard-rinsing chemicals and bacteria from the surface. Then leave for several hours.
- For sanitizing your stainless steel water bottles, you can also use bleaching agents and mix it with water. Shake up the mixture inside the water bottle for 10 to 15 minutes and leave overnight. Pour it out after leaving overnight and rinse with water. Leave some water inside the bottle and shake it up for another 10 to 15 minutes, and leave for two hours. Pour out the water from the bottle and rinse the bottle again with water and air dry.
- Hydrogen peroxide is another agent to sanitize your stainless steel water bottle. The chemical content of the hydrogen peroxide is sanitary and safe to clean the bottle as it fights the deadliest virus-causing bacteria. Hydrogen peroxide is sometimes used to sanitize wounds. Therefore, it is also safe to use in cleaning your stainless steel water bottle. To apply, you may spray it inside and outside the surfaces and leave for 10 minutes. Rinse with water and air dry.
You do not need to worry about these chemical solutions because some of them are even edible! It will not harm the surfaces of your stainless steel water bottles but rather disinfect, sanitize, and clean it by absorbing the harmful particles living inside your water bottle.
