Junior: Brigham Young University has an outstanding uplifting atmosphere that I love! The professors are caring and understanding, and overall amazing at helping students reach their academic goals. The campus itself is gorgeous--making time in between classes a delight. One of my favorite things about BYU is their first year student mentoring experience. Each and every freshman is assigned to a mentor that they meet with throughout their first couple semesters. The mentors are also students so it is very nice to have some sense of camaraderie. What I also love about BYU is that everyone is friendly. Whenever I needed help a kind soul was there with a smile. Prayers before classes start and the devotionals each week really invite the spirit which only enhances my learning. Freshman: The community is small and inclusive, there are always events going on and ways to be included to meet new people! I’ve been living in the dorms and it has been a great experience. The food is very good for the most part and after scholarships (which most everyone gets) I have found it affordable with a simple job! Amazing classes here. All the teachers know you personally by the end of the class and are very kind when you are struggling. It feels like I’m at home here plus you get a scholarship for just being some programs like the art or music program. You also get a scholarship for returning each year. I’m hoping to finish my bachelors in 3 years since most my high school credits transfered. The best part is you are right in the middle of sugar house with a part right across the street and everything within minutes from you. Freshman: Southern Utah University is a great school! With academic and Institute, I am taking 22 classes this first semester. I am majoring in Music Performance with trombone. I hope to become a religious or musical educator. I have enjoyed SUU so much! I am working a part time job. Cedar City has lots of job opportunities for students. I recently returned from serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. SUU has a great school to transition from mission to university life. SUU has been such a positive experience and great learning atmosphere. I would strongly recommend SUU to anyone looking for a great and fun university experience, especially freshman coming from high school like myself. Freshman: UVU was a great school! The scheduling websites are easy to use and intuitive, the teachers have all been upfront about expectations and plenty willing to work with me when I have issues, and there are always plenty of events going on to come and meet other students! The library is a lovely place to work, but every building has random desks and couches scattered around so I can study wherever I want. They keep a constant online presence and do their best to foster a sense of community. Students have discounted tickets to amazing shows put on by other students, too. The building is full of windows so you always feel alive and it's hard to lose track of time. They all connect, as well - it's one, giant, clever building, that masquerades as twenty-three separate buildings. There are "secret tunnels" that are really just hallways and staircases, since the campus is built into a mountain. Advisors are easy to access and genuinely helpful, too! Senior: First and foremost, this institution ensures that students have all the resources and support necessary to excel throughout coursework. Next, I like that you have to REALLY know the material. Cheating and skating by is virtually impossible. WGU graduates know their (soon-to-be our) stuff. Alum: I loved my time at Dixie State. I loved the class sizes, and I loved all my professors, as they really seemed to care about me and my education. I absolutely loved the student life. Student associations do a ton to host events for the students, and that was the best part. Dances were always great and something to look forward to in the year. Housing is well-priced and inclusive. I met most of my friends just from student life in the dorm, and I loved the dorm environment. Athletic games were always fun as well!One thing I would say is that they have a lot of focus on STEM managers but disregard the humanities. Our building was outdated, with only three classrooms. STEM majors had their own buildings with multiple floors. The name change didn't make us feel any more included. I would ask that they work on equally supporting all majors and not just focusing the money and resources on STEM. Senior: Best decision that I could have made for myself. If you're hesitant, please don't be. Do it, you won't regret registering especially if you are having a hard time getting accepted into a community college in California.Professors are the greatest! They want you to succeed. They go above and beyond to make sure that you understand the content. That you not only understand the content but that you grasp and retain it as well.Clinical rotation sites are a place to really use your critical thinking skills that you've learned in theory. The instructors will test your knowledge and make sure you understand what you're there for. They will test you on your assessments, they will give you scenarios to work through at the end of every shift. You will have to demonstrate your knowledge. Freshman: Neumont is an entirely unique college and as such it brings in the right kind of person. Their structure is set up so you are actually prepared to be a part of the workforce once you have gotten your degree and they have chosen to not have irrelevant classes. Its an accelerated college structure meaning you get your degree in 3 years over the four to six that it would take at a regular college. Additionally, due to how it is set up you have a more personal connection to your teachers and can easily access the help that you need. They have a peer advocate system that allows you to connect with an actual current student to figure out your way around. Lastly they have a student government body that has actual power to make change around the school so if you find an issue you can bring it up and get it resolved in a timely manner. There are certain deadlines for assignments but it tells you when everything is due at the beginning of class which is so nice.
