Where did you spend your spring break? Every year, we are lucky enough to get two weeks of spring break.

The second week is when my nephews are off and they fly down from PNW. It’s also to celebrate the birthdays of my nephew and I! We always have so much fun and take away lots of memories and stories.

This year the girls wanted to take the boys to the Dez. They are obsessed with rock climbing and thought the boys would love it for sure and they were right!

We were a big party of 8 (my mom and dad decided to tag along too and stay in a nearby hotel!) and needed a spacious Airbnb. I immediately thought of my friends’ Sarah and Brennan’s The Harriet House Joshua Tree.

Sarah and Brennan were so kind to sponsor our stay and let us enjoy a wonderful family vacation! Many thanks to them!

Desert Living

There is a distinct reason why so many choose to slow down life in the Desert. Research has shown that relaxed daily life decreases the stress hormone Cortisol.

For us, we definitely looked forward to our second annual trip and it did not disappoint!

The Harriet House

The Harriet House is a restored 1956 ranch style house in Pioneertown, named after one of it’s previous owners Harriet Allen of the infamous Pappy & Harriet’s.

With the colorful history comes vibrant home decor and accents. As you know, I looooove textiles and I was in heaven.

The minute we opened the door, the kids flew in oooh and ahh-ing.

Even my mom and dad were impressed! They had not expected the desert to have such a fabulous vacation home.

For the rest of the weekend, the idea of retiring in the desert became a topic of conversation.

The Tour

So what are we waiting for? Let me show you around!

The adorable galley kitchen had beautiful shelves displaying glassware and dishware.

The natural wood elements along with textiles and desert plant life adorning the space really brought the desert into your living space.

The kids had fun crafting jewelry and watching tv for some rare down time at night.

For the most part, they were outside exploring or on the swings having way too much fun to come inside.

Sweet Dreams

The main bedroom is a gorgeous scene with a beautiful rattan bed straight out of an Anthropologie catalogue! I got to sleep here and it was divine!

Right next door was the cutest secondary room for kids! My two daughters slept on the top bunk while one of my nephews slept on the bottom. Can we say ultimate cousin sleep over?

I had fun styling a bit too! Always a great inspiration to stay in homes like these. I take back the visual and tactile experiences into my own designs for my clients and home.

Back at the Main House, theday bed corner was awaiting many naps. I loved the chandy and oversized wall hanging. Just the best corner to relax in.

These woven chairs has all my hearts eyes. So comfy too! My mom and dad loved sitting here watching the kids play.

The kids loved swinging and spent every chance they could get to hang out and look for wildlife and mini-hikes around the property.

The guest suite had its own patio to lounge and read a book or two. The two sun beds begged us to sit and just look up at the stars at night.
