In honor of Valentine’s Day, we put together a list that shows God’s love for us in the scriptures (mostly described by the apostle John in the English Standard Version). The ultimate proof lies at the cross and, of course, in your personal testimony. And if you don’t think you have a personal testimony of God’s love, just seek Him and wait — it’s sure to come. Without further ado, a look at the ways God shows His love for me and you:
1. Christ died for us
God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
2. We are more than conquerors
Inall these things we are more thanconquerors throughhim who loved us. (Romans 8:37)
3.He quiets us and exults over us
TheLordyour God is in your midst,a mighty one who will save;he will rejoice over you with gladness;he will quiet you by his love;he will exult over you with loud singing. (Zephaniah 3:17)
4.He is looking out for us
“You are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life. Fear not, for I am with you.” (Isaiah 43:4-5)
5.He enables us to love
We love because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19)
6. He gives us benefits
Bless theLord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. (Psalm 103:2-5)
7. We’re called His children
See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.(1 John 3:1-3)
8. His mercies are endless
The steadfast love of theLordnever ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23)
9. He makes us alive
ButGod, beingrich in mercy,because of the great love with which he loved us even when we were dead in our trespasses,made us alive together with Christ. (Ephesians 2:4-5)
10.When we love others, He calls us his own
“A new commandmentI give to you,that you love one another:just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”(John 13:34-35)
