The American River Bike Trail

One of the many outdoor activities that I really like is the American River Bike Trail. The American River Trail, also known as the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail stretches 32 miles from Discovery Park in Old Sacramento to Beal’s Point near Folsom Lake. The entire trail is fully paved, wide, and well-maintained.

It’s a flat trail through fields and trees with lovely views of the calm river. If you are lucky enough, you can see deer, turkeys, rabbits, raptors, ducks, and herons. There is no shortage of amenities along the way such as restrooms, water fountains, and washrooms. If you are hungry, stop at any good eating spots, grab a bite, and explore.
